About Towsty

Towsty helps UK homeowners find out whether a heat pump suits their home, then connects them with MCS-certified installers who cover their area.

Who runs Towsty

Towsty is operated by Correla Limited, a UK company that works across the energy sector. Correla was incorporated in December 2020 and is registered in England and Wales (company number 13062055). Our registered office is Lansdowne Gate, 65 New Road, Solihull, B91 3DL.

Towsty is Correla’s consumer-facing service: a UK-wide platform for homeowners thinking about switching to a heat pump. The team behind it works where energy data, heat pump design and consumer protection meet, three things that don’t always sit together neatly in this industry and that we think should.

Why Towsty exists

If you’ve started looking into heat pumps, you’ve probably noticed the market is noisy. Some installers promise the earth, comparison sites paper over the detail, and information is often contradictory, out of date or quietly funded by whoever is in the headline. For a decision this big, often tens of thousands of pounds and a change to how your home is heated for the next twenty years, that’s a problem.

Towsty exists to put a straight answer in front of homeowners first, without sales pressure. You get an estimate for your own home, and we share your details with installers who cover your postcode only if you ask us to. You decide what happens next.

How we produce your estimate

When you use the free Towsty estimate, three things happen in a few minutes.

  • We start from your home’s EPC. Energy Performance Certificates aren’t perfect, but they give a baseline for your home’s insulation, construction and efficiency. If your EPC is missing or unusable, we ask you a few questions instead.
  • We estimate your home’s heat loss. This is how much heat your home loses on a cold winter’s day, which sets the size of heat pump you’d need. It’s a desktop estimate for a quick first look, not the room-by-room calculation an MCS-certified installer carries out at a home survey.
  • We size a heat pump and estimate the cost. We show the likely installation cost before and after any government grant you’re likely to qualify for, such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme in England and Wales.

The estimate isn’t a quote. Only an installer can give you that, after a proper survey of your home. What it gives you is an honest starting point, so you can tell whether it’s worth going further. Where your home needs a more tailored look than a quick estimate can give, we say so rather than show a figure we can’t stand behind.

How we check installers

Every installer is checked and approved before they can see a single homeowner’s details.

  • MCS certification. MCS is the industry standard for heat pump installers in the UK, and using an MCS-certified installer is a condition of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. We check each installer’s certification, and an installer whose certificate lapses stops receiving enquiries.
  • Identity verification. We use Stripe Identity to check that the person applying for each business is who they say they are, against government-issued ID. We also look at business records such as Companies House.
  • Approval by our team. Beyond those checks, a member of our team reviews every installer before approval. We read homeowner feedback and can suspend an installer who stops meeting our standards.

How Towsty makes money

Towsty is paid by installers, not homeowners. The estimate is free, and you pay us nothing at any point. Installers pay us for the enquiries they choose to take on. That keeps the commercial relationship between us and the installers, so you never have to wonder who’s paying for what.

Our independence

Being paid by installers raises an obvious question: do we favour installers who pay more? No. Every approved installer who covers your postcode is offered your enquiry on the same terms and at the same price. There’s no bidding and no paid ranking, and up to 3 installers can take it on.

Our estimate is independent of those commercial relationships too. The heat loss, sizing and cost figures are our best picture of your home, not a nudge towards a particular outcome or installer.
