The Installation Process
What happens between saying yes and switching on — surveys, timelines, disruption, and what a good installation looks like.
Getting a heat pump installed happens in stages: a survey of your home, a written quote, then the installation itself. The work on site is usually measured in working days, but the whole journey from first enquiry to switch-on normally takes several weeks.
The survey matters most. A good installer measures your home room by room, works out how much heat it loses and designs the system to match, rather than guessing a size from the boiler you have now. Knowing what a proper survey involves, and what to ask while the installer is there, is one of the easiest ways to tell a great installer from an average one.
These guides take you through the survey and the usual timeline, and explain what can slow things down.
